A graduate from Pershore College, I have been solving plant and gardening problems for more than 15 years for a number of UK national gardening magazines, Garden News and online.
I was UK's first plant agony aunt online at i-Garden. I have now developed this problem solving service into the role of a garden coach known as Auntie Planty.
I am also a freelance broadcast journalist, contributing to television, radio and gardening websites. From 2002 I have been commissioned by BBC-interactive for its red button
coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. I have been regularly answering phone-in gardening questions on BBC Radio London's Lesley Joseph Show on Sundays.
My first degree is BSc (Hons) in horticulture, to which I have added a PG Dip (Broadcast Journalism); Dip Plants & Plantsmanship; C&G teaching adults certificate; I have recently
completed a specialised course on trees; I'm a full member of the Institute of Horticulture.
I'm proud to be a Visitor Guide at Kew; and am the immediate past
Chairman of The Garden Media Guild (formerly the Garden Writers’ Guild);
